S.O.U.L. Church Dallas, short for Servants Of oUr Lord, is a unique mobile ministry that has been serving the homeless community in Dallas since 1995. Operating without a traditional building, the church sets up every Sunday in an open field near Fair Park, offering praise and worship, prayer, food, clothing, hygiene packs, free haircuts, showers, and laundry services to over 150 individuals each week.
A Church Without Walls
S.O.U.L. Church's mission is to meet people where they are, both physically and spiritually. They aim to bridge the gap between societal expectations and the lived experiences of those in need, listening to understand their values, needs, desires, pain, and traumatic experiences. This approach fosters a compassionate community that offers support and love to individuals facing homelessness.
More Than Just Sunday Services
Beyond their Sunday gatherings, S.O.U.L. Church operates the SOUL Shared Food Ministry (SSFM), which receives over 20,000 pounds of food weekly and distributes it to over 40 organizations across 13 counties in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. These organizations include transitional housing programs, recovery houses, community food pantries, and churches. Additionally, the church collects and distributes gently used clothing through Kings Closet and new shoes through Soles for S.O.U.L.
Community Partnerships
S.O.U.L. Church collaborates with other organizations to expand its impact. For instance, in September 2024, approximately 20 volunteers from Lakepointe Church joined S.O.U.L. in serving the homeless in downtown Dallas. The day included praise and worship, a sermon filled with wisdom and hope, and baptisms that symbolized new life and transformation.
How You Can Get Involved
S.O.U.L. Church relies on the support of volunteers and donors to continue its mission. With only three salaried employees and a few contract workers, the church is sustained by its dedicated and compassionate volunteers, as well as the generous contributions of donors.
